It is Trump’s first meeting with a head of government from abroad. Netanyahu wants to win him for his fight against Iran and at the same time hopes for normalization with Saudi Arabia.
At his meeting with US President Donald Trump, Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu wants to talk about “decisive topics” for Israel and the Middle East region. This included “a victory over the Hamas, the release of all of our hostages and the examination of the Iranian terror axis and all of its components,” said Netanyahu before he left the United States.
The Iranian axis threatens Israel, the Middle East and the whole world, said the head of government. In addition to Hamas in Gaza, Iran’s allies include the Hisbollah in Lebanon, who is also militarily weakened by Israel, and the Huthi militia in Yemen.
Netanyahu again emphasized that Trump will receive him as the first head of government from abroad. This is a proof “for the strength of the Israeli-American alliance” and for “the strength of our personal friendship”.
Trump is known as a close ally Netanyahus who had been very criticized internationally because of Israel’s warfare in Gaza.
This friendship and cooperation with Trump have already achieved reconciliation agreements with other Arab countries, said Netanyahu. “The decisions we made in this war have already changed the face of the Middle East,” said the Israeli head of government. In close cooperation with Trump “we can even further and better design it”.
He believes “that we can strengthen security, expand the circle of peace and achieve a remarkable era of peace through strength,” said Trump. According to media reports, Trump and Netanyahu strive for a normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia.
Israel and Hamas had agreed on a six -week ceasefire last month. Netanyahu’s statements about a victory over the Hamas nourish the concern, a second phase of the agreement could not be implemented in the first place. Legally -oriented coalition partners urge the resumption of the war.
Several influential Arab states have rejected Trump’s proposal to move Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Trump had previously brought Egypt and Jordan into conversation. That could be temporary or long -term, he had recently said. He argued that the Gaza Strip was literally a demolition fallow, almost everything is being torn down and the people die there. His US special ambassador for the Middle East, Steve Witkoff, described the Gaza Strip as “uninhabitable” because of the war damage.
