Does Friedrich Merz have an outdated image of women? His wife considers such reports to be absurd.
Charlotte Merz (64), wife of Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz (69), considers the presentation of her husband to be wrong in public. “What is written by some about my husband’s image of my husband is simply not true. I can’t understand it in any way,” said the lawyer of the “Westphalia Post”. As a couple, they would have always done everything together and also organized family and married life on an equal footing.
“By the way, I find mental support more important than the question of who brings the trash down,” said Charlotte Merz. She would have received her first child when she was still in his studies. “We took both consideration for the job of the other and divided childcare in such a way that it was compatible with our professional obligations. My husband always supported me completely because he found it for granted and correct that I worked.”
Charlotte Merz is the director of the Arnsberg district court. The couple has three adult children, a son and two daughters. If her husband is elected Chancellor, the 64-year-old wants to continue professionally as before. “I plan to continue my life in the Sauerland as usual, with my work as a judge and district court director,” she said. “I want to go to work as normal every morning. Also because I assume that my husband can spend much less time in the Sauerland when he becomes a chancellor.”
