The new “Real-O-Mat” takes a close look at the actual voting behavior of the parties on current topics. How the online tool works.
As is well known, worlds are between theory and practice. Also, the election program of parties does not always match the actual voting behavior. In order not to fall for empty election promises, there is a new online tool: The “Real-O-Mat” should help voters in the 2025 federal election to recognize which party actually best represents their own views. Instead of concentrating-like his namesake, the “Wahl-O-Mat”-on election promises and the party programs, the “real-o-mat” looks at the concrete voting behavior of the parties on current political issues and compares it with its own position .
“All parties that were sitting in the last legislative period in the Bundestag have previously made many promises. On this basis, we chose them. But: What remains of it and how did you really act?” -Tools. It was developed by the research platform “Fragdenstaat” in cooperation with eleven civil society organizations.
This is how the “Real-O-Mat” works:
The “Real-O-Mat” shows its users 20 political demands from the areas of internal security and defense, migration, economy, work and social affairs, health and energy. If you agree to the claim, click on the option “Yes, I also think”. If you reject a claim or contain, you can “no, that goes too far” or “No, that is not enough for me”, which corresponds to the justification of a faction in resolutions and plenary debates. For example, if there is no faction for “No, that goes too far”, this response option is stored in the respective claim and cannot be clicked.
In the end you get an evaluation that shows how strongly your own answers match the positions of different parties. You will also find a detailed reason for the voting behavior of each faction here.
