For the third time in the ongoing election campaign, the AfD receives a large donation. This time the support comes from an ex-FPÖ official. What is his motivation?
The AfD has reported a new party donation of around 2.35 million euros to the Bundestag administration. Gerhard Dingler from Austria is mentioned as a donor on the website of the Bundestag. The AfD confirmed the report to the Bundestag on request, but did not want to comment on the donation.
WDR and NDR reported that the AfD will receive the third major donation within a few days. It is a donation in kind: 6,395 posters should be hung across Germany and advertise the AfD regardless of the official election campaign. The posters are apparently already printed.
Austrians wants to prevent Ukraine aids with AfD major donation
According to a report by the Austrian Radio ORF, Dingler is the former state manager of the right -wing populist FPÖ in Vorarlberg. In a statement, Dingler confirmed the million dollar donation himself.
When asked why he gave such a high sum to the AfD, Dingler said that he was very concerned about a further escalation of the Ukraine war. There is a risk that the future government in Germany could deliver Taurus marching aircraft to Ukraine. According to ORF, Dingler said that he wanted to prevent this. In its view, the AfD is the only party that credibly committed to peace – so he supports the German party with election posters worth 2.3 million euros.
The AfD had already reported a large donation of 1.5 million euros and another of 999,900 euros in the past few days. In the case of large donations from 35,000 euros, it is mandatory to report them to the Bundestag president immediately.
