After days of fighting for the city of Goma in the Eastern Congo, the streets are full of corpses. Hundreds of other people were injured.
After the recent struggles to take Goma, at least 900 corpses were recovered in the streets of the city in the Eastern Congo. The number raised up to and including Friday does not conclude those deaths that have already been brought in corpse halls, as the UN Nothilfebüro Ocha, citing the World Health Organization (WHO).
There were still numerous corpses in the streets of Gomas, it said. The local authorities in the east of the Democratic Republic of Congo also counted almost 2,900 injuries last week.
A week ago, the Miliz M23 had attacked the city of Goma in the province of North-Kivu and ultimately took it after days against the military. The rebels, which are supported by experts from neighboring Rwanda, have been active in the Eastern Congo for years and have now won control over large parts of North Kivus.
