Former RAF terrorist Klette in court from March

Former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette has been in custody for almost a year. Now movement comes into the case.

Former RAF terrorist Daniela Klette will soon be standing before the district court in Verden for 13 robberies. The negotiation begins on March 25 in the state protection hall of the Higher Regional Court Celle, as a court spokeswoman said. Investigators throw the 66-year-old burdock murder, unauthorized gun possession and attempted and completed heavy robbery.

Deeds without terrorist background

The public prosecutor’s office in Verden has been investigating burden and its alleged accomplices Ernst-Volker Staub and Burkhard Garweg for many years. At the end of February 2024, emergency services arrested the former RAF terrorist in Berlin-Kreuzberg, where she lived under the wrong name. According to the other two suspects, the search continues.

The trio belonged to the so -called third generation of the left -wing extremist Red Army Group (RAF). In 1998 the RAF, who killed more than 30 people, declared itself dissolved. The acts to be negotiated have no terrorist background, as the investigators emphasize.

Raids in several federal states

Between 1999 and 2016, the trio burdock, dust and Garweg are said to have attacked money transporters and supermarkets in Lower Saxony, North Rhine-Westphalia and Schleswig-Holstein in order to finance their lives underground. They are said to have captured 2.7 million euros in the deeds. According to the indictment, they threatened their victims with firearms or stun guns. According to the information, burdock was mostly the driver of the escape car.

The indictment is controversial for attempted murder in connection with an attack in Stuhr south of Bremen. The trio is said to have shot a money transporter several times in June 2015. Two shots penetrated the driver’s cab, the wallets remained unharmed. The public prosecutor sees the shots as a murder attempt, the Celle Higher Regional Court does not see an urgent suspicion of attempted murder. The defense repeatedly emphasized that the driver of the money transporter had not been targeted.

No place in the Verden district court

Investigators also accuse burdens of violations of the weapons law and the war weapons control law. A Kalashnikov and a tank fist grenade were found in their Berlin apartment. The 66-year-old has been in the women’s prison in Vechta since her arrest. The pre -trial detention has already been extended.

For reasons of space, the negotiation cannot take place in the Verden district court. The court therefore deviates to the state protection hall of the Higher Regional Court Celle, as a court spokeswoman announced. The case in the Verden district is to be negotiated from summer.

Further investigations by the federal prosecutor

There are also arrest warrants against burdock, dust and Garweg on suspicion of participation in terrorist attacks. The highest indictment in Germany, the Federal Prosecutor’s Office in Karlsruhe, accuses Klette murder in two cases and complicity in explosive explosions in three attacks by the RAF from February 1990 to March 1993. Membership in the terrorist association RAF itself has become time -barred.

The federal prosecutor is responsible for the investigation into the terrorist attacks. Another charge is expected for this complex. The procedure will be led separately from the process before the Verden district court.
