Surveys for the Bundestag election differ significantly depending on the opinion research institute. In one of them, the CDU and CSU had to springs with the AfD after the argument for voting.
After the controversial votes last week, the Union has lost approval in an election survey and has fallen to the lowest value since October 2023. In the RTL/NTV “trend barometer”, the Forsa opinion research institute found only 28 percent for the CDU and CSU (minus two points) almost three weeks before the Bundestag election. The AfD remains constant at 20 percent, as is the SPD at 16 percent. The Greens can increase by one point to 15 percent compared to the previous week.
For the first time since August 2023, the left has been skipping the five percent hurdle again in this survey with exactly 5 percent, FDP (4 percent) and BSW (4 percent).
2,503 voters were interviewed in the period from last Tuesday to Monday. On Wednesday, the Union had achieved a majority for its application for a sharper migration policy in the Bundestag with the votes of the AfD and thus triggered violent discussions. On Friday, a bill failed on this topic because there were deviators in their own ranks and at the FDP.
No negative trend for the Union in further survey
Another survey did not have a negative trend for the CDU and CSU on Monday after the votes in the Bundestag. Both the Union (30 percent) and the AfD (22 percent) were able to keep their values constant in a survey by the Insa Institute for “Bild”.
Election surveys are generally affected with uncertainties, for example due to a declining party boundaries and always short -term election decisions. The data collected by the institutes also only show the opinion at the time of the survey and are not forecasts on the election outcome.
