Kramp-Karrenbauer leaves the Catholics Central Committee

The ZDK sharply criticized the procedure of Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz last week. AKK reacts to this.

Former CDU boss Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer has ended her work at the Central Committee of German Catholics because she disagreed with the criticism of the Union’s migration course. This was confirmed by the ZDK in Berlin. ZDK President Irme Stetter-Karp expressed her regret. The Catholic news agency had first reported.

“Yes, I left the ZDK,” said Kramp-Karrenbauer of the German Press Agency. “The reason for the CDU’s migration policy was the reason for the CDU’s migration policy, not the content positioning, but the selected sound.” She was a member for many years and recently led the “Sustainable Development and Global Development” factual area.

“I appreciate Ms. Kramp-Karrenbauers in the ZDK, her sustainable and compensated work very much,” said Stetter-Karp. “Therefore, I regret that an understanding in the question of dealing with what was moving the Bundestag on Wednesday and Friday of last week was no longer possible.” Kramp-Karrenbauer had resigned from all functions and offices in the ZDK and no longer belongs to the ZDK. That is a loss that hurts them.

Sharp criticism of the Union’s course

The ZDK had sharply criticized the Union’s so -called inflow limitation law last week. This “crosses borders of political culture and at the same time does not solve any problems,” it said in a message. The draft law is “a single anti-integration campaign”. The law ultimately failed in the Bundestag, although the vast majority of Union with the AfD voted for it.

The ZDK is the representation of the Catholic laypersons. Also from representatives of the two large Christian churches came unusually sharp criticism of the approach of the Union Chancellor candidate Friedrich Merz to enable decisions in the Bundestag with the help of the AfD.
