President Trump regularly turned against editions for international humanitarian aid. Now the United States releases practically all of its development aiders in a unique step.

The US development aid authority USAID releases a large part of its employees worldwide from the weekend. From Friday, 11:59 p.m. (local time Washington), all employees directly employed are on leave – with the exception of employees in indispensable items and in certain programs. Anyone who is affected by exceptional regulations will find out the day before, writes the authority under the provisional direction of US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on their website.

US President Donald Trump had already freezed the funds for the authority for an internal review in January. He explained several times that USAID was led by radical “insane” who wasted the money from taxpayers.

Around 10,000 people work for the authority, two thirds of them outside the United States. Last year, around $ 50 billion was put into development aid projects.

USAID has now announced that home flights would be arranged within 30 days of currently stationed staff. Hardfalls, for example, regarding the school attendance of children, medical needs or security concerns, would be taken into account. The news of the employees on the website concludes with the words: “Thank you for your service.”

The White House recently listed USAID projects that, from the President’s point of view, are particularly unimportant-including an initiative for electric cars in Vietnam and transgender-friendly programs in South America. There was also money that could have flowed into the hands of Al Qaeda terrorists.

The biggest donor is eliminated

The sudden loss of US development aid would weigh heavily. The United States is considered the largest mountain country worldwide. In Africa, in the event of the permanent failure, it is feared that the number of deaths will increase massively due to avoidable diseases. Numerous projects all over the world are affected, including the reconstruction in Ukraine as well as humanitarian projects in the Middle East and in Afghanistan.
