Reports about new Ukrainian offensive in the Kursk area

Ukrainian soldiers have been holding a small piece of Russia for six months. Moscow tries to drive away with constant pressure. But the Ukrainians even dare.

After Russian reports, Ukrainian troops started an offensive in the border area in the border area in the Kursk. The Russian Telegram Canal Shot reported that the Ukrainians tried to break through the small town of Sudscha for months over Machnowka to the village of Ulanok. The Ukrainian army use armored vehicles and around 400 soldiers.

The Russian Ministry of Defense confirmed that there were several waves of attack on the villages of Ulanok and Tscherkasskaja Konopelka. However, the attack was repelled, it said. “The places are under Russian control.” These military information were not independent. There was no statement from the Ukrainian general staff in Kyiv.

At the beginning of January, Ukraine had already dared a limited attack to expand its bridgehead in the Russian field. This was warded off. The new attack takes place exactly half a year after the first advance of the Ukrainians on Russian territory near Kursk. In the Moscow attack war, which has been lasting for almost three years, it is important for Ukraine to have a – albeit small – piece of Russia as a fist deposit for negotiations.

“At some point, when the war is heading for a diplomatic solution, you will see how important this operation was,” wrote the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj on Wednesday evening on the social network X. “Russia will not drive us out of Kursk in the near future.”

From August 6, 2024, the Ukrainian army had conquered more than 1,000 square kilometers in the Kursk area. With Russian counterattacks, the occupied area has shrunk to less than half over the months. However, the Moscow troops are slowly progressing.
