The pressure of Russian troops in Ukraine subsided for a few days, but the break seems to be over. The Ukrainian army also observes the return of another enemy.
According to the Ukrainian military, the attacks of Russian troops in eastern Ukraine become more violent after a few days. The general staff in Kiev recorded 125 Russian storm attacks for Saturday after the number was around 80 attacks in the days before. The focus of the attacks with more than 50 individual attacks was the city of Pokrowsk in the Donetsk area and the surrounding towns. The general staff spoke of high losses of the Russian attackers.
The Mining City of Pokrowsk, which had around 60,000 inhabitants before the war, has been competitive for months. However, the Russians relied not to take the city directly, but to move past it south.
The number of the general staff mentioned on the battles cannot be checked in detail. However, they trace the struggles and increase in the fights. In the meantime, military observers puzzled whether the Russian offensive, which has been going on since autumn 2023, exhausted itself or whether it was only a break. In December there were up to 300 battles every day.
Ukraine has been defending itself against a large -scale Russian invasion for almost three years. In the night of Sunday, the air alarm was again in the Eastern European country to far into the west. The Ukrainian Air Force located many Russian fight drones in the sky – for example near Luzk, a city in the northwest of the country, which is less than 100 kilometers away from the Polish border. The regional telegram channel of the television station Suspilne reported there of explosion noise.
North Koreans fight again in the Kursk area
The fights continued in the Russian border area of Kursk, where the Ukrainian army has been holding a bridgehead for six months. After a break since mid -January, Ukrainian troops have again observed a commitment of North Korean soldiers who are fighting on the Russian side. “Russian and North Korean troops started another attack in the Kursk region,” said the 47th brigade of Ukraine. The enemy changed its tactics. “So far, they have mainly attacked vehicles, but now they have sent infantry into the attack.”
Commander -in -chief Syrkyj in office for one year
In a year under his command, the Ukrainian army had expanded its ability to attack attacks far into Russia, the Ukrainian commander -in -chief Olexander Syrskyj wrote on Facebook. He was appointed Walerij Saluschnyj on February 8, 2024. Ukrainian fight drones could now attack up to 1,700 kilometers. Syrskyj reviewed defeats such as the loss of the city of Awdijiwka at Donetsk, but also praised the penetration of his troops to Russia. In the Russian area, 924 prisoners of war were made. “Ukraine can pass to the counterattack, beat the enemy and hunt,” he said.
Selenskyj accuses Putin upgrade
The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj accuses Russian head of state Vladimir Putin to set up a continuation of the war by upgrading. “We now know that the Russians are setting up new divisions and developing new military production facilities,” said Selenskyj in Kiev.
“And that means an easy thing: Putin is not preparing for negotiations, not for peace, but for the continuation of the war, and not just against us,” said Selenskyj in a video message.
“All partners need to know about it and see it.” In Europe, every country must strengthen its defense. The goal of spending five percent of the economic output will “do not disappear from the agenda”. It remained unclear what information about a Russian troop structure related to Selenskyj. Ukraine is ready to share its findings, he said.
