Part two of the American-Russian prisoner exchange has been carried out: Moscow got the head of a Bitcoin exchange back.
The Russian cybercriminal Alexander Winnik, which was released in a prisoner exchange between the USA and Russia, has returned to Moscow. The Russian foreign politician Leonid Sluzki spoke of a “further victory of Russian diplomacy and all services and authorities involved in the liberation,” as reported by the state news agency TASS.
Winnik (Vinnik in English) was imprisoned in the USA because he was involved in a large scale of a Bitcoin exchange. According to Tass, he was flown from the USA via Turkey to Moscow.
His return home follows the release of the American Marc Fogel. With the exchange, the contacts between the new US administration of President Donald Trump and Russia became public for the first time. A phone call to Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin followed on Wednesday.
