No result in the second tariff round for the employees of the federal government and the municipalities. The consequences could be felt in many places.
There is no rapprochement in the collective bargaining about wages and working hours for more than 2.5 million employees of the federal government and municipalities. “Employers refuse an offer,” said Verdi boss Frank Werneke after the second round of negotiations in Potsdam. There were no concessions on the subject of wages or to improve working conditions. “The employers are completely walled. A communication is currently not in sight,” said Werneke. The negotiator of the DBB civil servant, Volker Geyer, said: “We will probably not get any further here without any other warning strikes.”
Verdi and the DBB require a wage increase of eight percent, but at least 350 euros per month. At the same time, they want to negotiate three additional free days. The employees should get flexible working time accounts and decide for themselves whether they want to pay overtime or accumulate overtime. The municipalities warn of overloading the partly highly indebted cities and municipalities.
New warning strikes probably
Before the conversations, the unions had already let that they are ready to expand the warning strikes if the federal government and municipalities do not present an offer. Larger promotions in daycare centers, local transport, airports or in garbage disposal would be possible – and that before the Bundestag election, i.e. this week. The collective bargaining will continue in mid -March.
