Verdi is serious: If you want to take the plane in Cologne or Düsseldorf on Monday, you should follow the news from the airports at the weekend. The union calls for strikes.
The Verdi union is calling for the public service at the Düsseldorf and Cologne airports for Monday to warning strikes. Verdi said that “extensive effects on passenger flights” should be expected.
In Cologne, the 24-hour work of work is to begin late Sunday evening, in Düsseldorf in early Monday morning.
According to a Verdi spokesman, employees in Düsseldorf are called to the warning strike, transported the suitcases who work on the check-in switch or supply the aircraft with fresh water. He assumes “little air traffic on Monday”, said the spokesman. According to the information, the security controls are not affected.
Check-in employee and aircraft single
According to Verdi, several professional groups are also called for warning strike in Cologne. For example, it is about people who are responsible for loading and unloading the aircraft, as well as employees at the check-in switch or aircraft single. In Cologne, too, security controls are not affected.
Bringing time! These are Germany’s most unpunctual airports
The airport ends up in 14th place in the most unpunctual airports Saarbrücken: 11.88 minutes, an average of 2024 was late here, which represents a comparatively good value

Further
Verdi and the DBB civil servant association negotiate with the federal government and the municipalities about income and working hours of more than 2.5 million employees. These work not only in the administration, but also in daycare centers, at schools and universities, in local transport, waste companies or at airports. Firefighters and federal police officers are also included.
Verdi demands wage plus of eight percent
The unions want to enforce a wage increase of eight percent, but at least 350 euros per month. There should be higher surcharges in particularly stressful jobs such as in the health sector. In addition, the unions want to negotiate three additional days off.
In the previous two rounds of negotiations, employers have not submitted a offer. The municipalities in particular warn of overload and point out the high debts of many cities and municipalities.
The date for the next round of negotiation has already been determined: unions, the federal government and municipalities will meet in Potsdam from March 14th to 16th.
