On the third anniversary of the beginning of the Moscow war of aggression against Ukraine, there was an explosion at the Russian Consulate General in Marseille. Three explosives were thrown against a wall there, two exploded, said a police spokeswoman. There are no injuries.

The perpetrator therefore fled after the morning attack. The police could not provide more information about the explosive bodies. At first she said nothing about a possible motif.

Insiders from French security circles, on the other hand, stated that two plastic bottles had been thrown towards the terrain wall, of which one had exploded, reports the Reuters news agency. It was initially unclear whether the objects flew over the wall. The French broadcaster BFM TV reported that it was Molotow cocktails that landed in the garden of the consulate. The consulate employees should have stayed in the building, while the security measures for the Russian consulate general had been tightened.

The Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Moscow asked the French authorities to clarify the explosions without gaps. There are signs of a terrorist attack, said spokeswoman Maria Sacharova. In addition, France had to take steps to improve the security of Russian foreign representatives.
