There has never been anything like this: Ukrainian president threw the Ukrainian president out of the White House after a dispute in front of the world. The scandal in pictures.
Talks normally run between the heads of state of two countries according to defined diplomatic rules of the game – especially if the countries are officially allied and the meeting of journalists is accompanied and filmed. Any disagreement and dissonances are – if at all – expressed in finely balanced and always politely formulated statements. In the end, what happened in the White House on Friday had nothing to do with diplomacy.
US President Donald Trump, his Vice JD Vance and the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj came into a violent argument in front of the world. It was a scene that was hard to beat in terms of grotesque drama, how star-Art chief Marc Goergen commented:
In the end the conversation was canceled, Selenskyj had to leave the White House. From European heads of state came back quickly for the Ukrainian, in the Kremlin you probably rubbed your hands and the international press finally saw the end of the usual (western) world order.
