London grants Kyiv loan over 2.74 billion euros
Great Britain gives Ukraine a billion dollar loan to strengthen its defense against Russia. The finance ministers of both states signed the agreement on Saturday.
Great Britain grants Ukraine a loan of 2.74 billion euros so that the country can continue to defend itself in its struggle against Russia. The two finance ministers Rachel Reeves and Serhii Marschenko signed the agreement in an online ceremony. The loan is a sign of “unshakable support for the Ukrainian people,” it said. The British Prime Minister Keir Strandmer had previously warmly welcomed the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj in London.
The loan is to be repaid with profits from the frozen Russian assets. Ukraine has been defending itself against a Russian attack war for years.

Selenskyj replied that he saw the hundreds of followers who had gathered before the downing street. “I would like to thank you, the United Kingdom citizens, for whom great support since the beginning of the war.”

The meeting between Strander and Selenskyj behind closed doors took around 75 minutes. As a string of Selenskyj, they hugged again. On Sunday, Strander European head of state and government welcomes a summit in London, in which Moscow’s advancement should advise on further European support for Ukraine.
