After the scandal with Donald Trump in the White House, the allies of Ukraine in London came together for a crisis meeting. Now there is a result.
After the consultations on the situation of Ukraine in London, French President Emmanuel Macron and the British Prime Minister Keir Starmer proposed a one -month ceasefire for Ukraine. The ceasefire between Russia and Ukraine should apply “in the air, on the seas and in the energy infrastructure”, Macron told the newspaper “Le Figaro” on Sunday.
Strander had previously announced after a European crisis summit in London, Great Britain, France and a number of other countries wanted to work with Ukraine on a ceasefire plan.
The advantage of such a ceasefire is that “you can measure it” because the front is extremely long-“the equivalent of the Paris Budapest route,” said the French President.
USA demands territorial concessions from Ukraine
In view of the US government’s turn to Russia, Strander had previously said in London that Europe had to take the initiative and develop a “new plan for a fair and permanent peace” in Ukraine. The ceasefire plan should then be presented to the USA.
According to Macron, Europeans should increase their defense spending to between three and 3.5 percent of gross domestic product (GDP). US President Donald Trump demands NATO member states to increase the quota for defense expenditure from currently two to five percent of GDP.
Meanwhile, Trump’s security advisor demanded that Ukraine have to make territorial concessions for peace with Russia. “This war must be ended, and territorial concessions are required,” said Mike Waltz, the national security advisor of US President Donald Trump, Mike Waltz. This in turn will require Russian concessions among the security guarantees for Ukraine.
These guarantees would have to be done by the European allies, Waltz said. The type of American support must be negotiated. At the same time, he again confirmed that the US government will not see Ukraine as a member of NATO in the future.
Selenskyj would continue to sign raw material agreements with the USA
Ukraine has now defended itself against the Russian army for three years after the Russian attack.
President Wolodymyr Selenskyj assumes that he can save his relationship with US President Donald Trump after the scandal in the White House. However, the talks would have to be continued in a different format, says Selenskyj to reporters. He does not believe that the United States would hire its help for Ukraine because this will help the Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Selenskyj is still ready to sign the mineral agreement with the USA. He thinks the United States is also ready for this.
