Israel and Hamas cannot agree on a continuation of the ceasefire. Israel therefore puts pressure on – and the defense minister expresses a threat.
In view of the standstill talks, Israel only wants to continue negotiating for a few days, according to the Israeli Minister of Defense. Israel Katz threatened Hamas in the Gaza Strip at the same time to resume the fights against the Islamist organization. “If Hamas does not soon expose the hostages, the gazas goals will be closed and the gates opened to hell,” he said, according to his office. Israel has already stopped access for aid deliveries into the large -scale coastal area.
Corner points of Gaza deal with Israel not yet negotiated
Although Hamas rejected a proposal by the US specialist Steve Witkoff, Israel has fulfilled the request of the mediator and has a few more days of negotiations, Katz continued. Witkoff’s plan provides for the continuation of the ceasefire until mid -April in return for the release of hostages.
Hamas, on the other hand, insists on the immediate implementation of a second phase of the Gaza deal, which provides for an end to the war and the deduction of troops and which should actually begin in early March. However, both parties to the conflict have not yet negotiated the key points. Israel wants to make Hamas accept Witkoff’s proposal.
