The US-seven protection authority is rowing back: According to Elon Musks, she is now sending emails to ex-employees. In it she makes an offer – and apologizes.
They were released two weeks ago, now they should come back. The US disease protection authority (CDC) asked almost 200 former employees to come back. “We apologize for the inconveniences that were caused,” said the health authority in an email that is available to the AP news agency. The subject only says: “Read this email instantly.”
According to the news, the authority would “withdraw the removal of the recipient after further exams and considerations” and declared invalid. The employees could like to return to work the following day.
Mass layouts follow the plan of Elon Musk and Trump government
The CDC main tasks lie in the fight and monitoring of illness.
The emails were sent on Tuesday to 180 of the 1300 ex-employees who were released last month. About 10 percent of the CDC workforce should therefore leave the authority. The mass layoffs follow the official plan of the Trump government.
President Donald Trump, his advisor Elon Musk and the Authority of Government Efficiency (Doge) have released tens of thousands of federal employees since Trump’s taking office in order to quickly reduce government expenditure.
Trump and Musk strive to achieve these cuts through a combination of measures:
- Discharge of federal employees who have not yet been civil servant.
- Offers to be released from work by the end of September 2025 at full payment. Then the employment ends. These types of severance payments were sent to almost the entire rest of the authorities.
Almost all government agencies are affected by the cuts, including those,
- that monitor the nation’s national arsenal,
- that control the US financial system,
- that work on the prevention of diseases,
- which ensure the security of the country’s food supply,
- monitor the natural disasters.
Trump’s cuts in the disease protection authority – and the efforts of the CDC to reinstate employees – come at a time when the United States has an increase in measles cases. At least nine states are affected, including Texas, California and New Mexico.
