Alice Weidel holds “a lot” by right -wing extremist Björn Höcke

Markus Lanz lets her talk a lot. A lot. On Thursday evening, AfD boss Alice Weidel will be a guest in the popular ZDF talk show. It is a parforcer ride through the most important topics of time: the effects of Trump’s government in the White House on Europe, German Ukraine policy, the debt brake. And it’s about the Thuringian AfD state chief Björn Höcke.

He is probably the best known right -wing extremist in Germany. A few months ago, Höcke spread an anti -Semitic caricature. He is convicted of “using the license plate of unconstitutional and terrorist organizations”. In his book he wrote that the “Remigration project” would not be able to avoid a policy of well -tempered cruelty “.

In 2017, however, he provided his Dresden speech for the first outcry, which was much discussed nationwide. At that time he said: “We Germans, our people, are the only people in the world that has planted a monument of shame in the heart of his capital.” Among other things, he demanded: “We need a culture of remembrance that, above all, and first of all bring us into contact with the great performance of the ancestors.”

The outrage was great at the time. Even then, the emeritated anti -Semitism researcher at the TU Berlin, Wolfgang Benz, commented on: “What he has taped again (…) is pure right -wing radicalism.”

Alice Weidel was also “shocked” about this speech at the time, she says on Thursday evening in the studio of Markus Lanz. But she relativizes: “He could explain it very well.” She does not say exactly what he could explain and how these statements can be explained. But: she could get to know the right -wing extremist “in the meantime, in recent years,”.

And so she reports how an absolute turnaround in her relationship with Björn Höcke could. Because now it is like this: “We have moved together. I think a lot of Björn Höcke.”

Just last month, Markus Lanz asked AfD-Co-Co-Co-Chef Tino Chrupalla to distance himself from Höcke. But Chrupalla gave way. He didn’t say the sentences, he argued at the time. His co-chair is now going much further: “The man wants to become Prime Minister of Thuringia. And he will also be,” she says about Höcke on Thursday evening. She will support him “as much as possible”.

One of the guests of Markus Lanz, the chairman of the youth organization Junge Union, throws in: “What has changed in the meantime?” Alice Weidel does not answer, but distracts. She continues to talk about the fact that “everything was disordered” in Germany. And that the CDU established “a rule of injustice”. She does not explain how she is said to have done this without ruling in recent years.

Markus Lanz has remained silent until then. Then he throws in: “[Höcke] Never did anything from it. “But Alice Weidel simply ignores him.
