Three months after the fall of the Syrian long-term ruler Bashar al-Assad, there are violent fights with the security forces in its former strongholds on the coast.
According to activists, the number of fatalities has risen to 130 in fighting between the Syrian transition government troops and armed followers of the long-term ruler Bashar al-Assad, who had fallen last year. This was announced by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
According to the government troops in the province of Latakia, the clashes play out, a stronghold of the religious minority of the Alawites, which also belongs to Assad. After attacks by Assad sympathizers on Thursday, there are serious fights on Friday.
Seven civilians are among the dead, said the Observatory based in Great Britain. According to the activists, 60 fighters on both sides are said to have been executed after their capture. Dozens of people were injured.
