Arrest after protest with a Palestine jam on the Big Ben

A demonstrator spent more than 16 hours on the Big Ben bell tower. At night, the fire brigade brought him down again with the lifting platform.

The police in London arrested a demonstrator who had climbed on the Urs tower on the British parliament with a palestine jam. The protest was only terminated after several hours -because the security of the civil servants, the man and the public had to be guaranteed, as the police announced on platform X.

The demonstrator had climbed to Elizabeth Tower early Saturday morning and only returned shortly after midnight (local time). Television pictures showed how he was brought down by the tower with a lifting platform of the fire brigade, where the famous Big Ben bell is located.

According to media reports, agents had tried in vain to move the activists down to come. The police, fire brigade and rescue workers were switched on. In between, the man pulled out his shoes and climbed up barefoot. According to a BBC report, supporters on the ground called “free Palestine” and “you are a hero”.

The location in Westminster was cordoned off all day. The police initially did not provide any information about the man’s motif. It was also unclear how he could come to the tower despite safety precautions.
