Findings of the BND: Control committee: Make corona examination public

The Federal Government’s intelligence committee has asked the Federal Government to share it with the population to share it about the origin of Corona pandemic. In a statement on which the parliamentary control committee agreed after a meeting on Thursday evening, it says: “The committee and the investigation process itself expressly welcomes the committee.” However, the Federal Government expects the public to teach the public at the latest after the examinations have been completed.

Experts should evaluate evidence

As several media reported this week, the Chancellery had asked scientists to examine the Federal Intelligence Service (BND) evidence of the claim that the virus comes from a laboratory in the Central Chinese city of Wuhan. According to the “Neue Zürcher Zeitung”, the BND had plausible information for the so -called laboratory thesis. These should therefore be evaluated by an expert round at meetings in recent months.

The “Süddeutsche Zeitung” and the “Zeit” also report on appropriate research results. According to the laboratory thesis, the Sars-COV-2 virus comes from a Chinese organic laboratory, the Wuhan Institute of Virology, where research is carried out on Coronaviruses. The second theory is that the virus, like that of the Sars epidemic from 2002/2003, had a natural origin.

Drosts: Source data is not accessible

The Berlin virologist Christian Drosten involved said that the summary of the results by the BND impressed him, but the source data had not been made accessible to the circle of scientists. “I therefore cannot make a scientific judgment due to a lack of data access.” In the previous public information situation, however, there is a much predominant probability of a natural virus origin.

The committee entrusted with the control of the intelligence services now announced that the media reports had taken note of. At the meeting, the federal government has now described the facts differently in some points than shown in it. Nevertheless, the government would have had to teach the control committee earlier which specific working theses regarding the origin of the pandemic of the BND and clarifying.
