The final result of the Bundestag election deviates only marginally from the provisional from the election night. This is bad news for Sahra Wagenknecht. She reports with criticism.
The BSW also misses the parliament after the final result of the Bundestag election. The party of Sahra Wagenknecht received a further 4,277 valid second votes compared to the provisional result from the election night, as the Federal Election Committee found at its meeting in Berlin. At 4.98 percent, however, she still remained just below the five percent hurdle.
Wagenknecht criticized that possible counting errors had not been pursued across the board. “This is also why it can be assumed that the official end result does not match the votes actually submitted,” warned the BSW boss.
Nothing changed in the overall result and the distribution of seats in the 21st German Bundestag with the determination of the end result on Friday. The CDU/CSU came to 28.5 percent, the AfD to 20.8 and the SPD to 16.4 percent. The Greens scored 11.6 and the left 8.8 percent. The FDP flew from the Bundestag with 4.3 percent. In seats this means: CDU/CSU 208, AfD 152, SPD 120, Greens 85, Linke 64 and SSW 1.
BSW failed in court for the time being
The Federal Constitutional Court had rejected several BSW applications that were supposed to achieve a new count of the Bundestag election. An urgent application from BSW members also failed at the Wiesbaden Administrative Court – the federal election management is in the Hessian capital. A subsequent complaint by the BSW in front of the Hessian Administrative Court was also unsuccessful.
Wagenknecht emphasized that the constitutional court said nothing about the scope of possible counting errors, but only referred to the regular legal process. Even with very few checks and re -counts, more than 4,000 additional votes were found for the BSW.
“A correct result can only be determined by a complete new count,” said Wagenknecht. “It questions the foundation of our democracy that until such a new count, the composition of the Bundestag is very likely not to correspond to the will to voters.”
After the official result has been announced, objections can now be filed. If necessary, a lawsuit can join. The procedure can take many months.
Easy voice corrections in several parties
According to the Federal Election Committee, the BSW only resulted in minimal changes in the absolute number of valid second votes. For example, 1,674 votes were added to the CDU, with the SPD 840 and the AfD 1,632. In contrast, the FDP 121 votes were deducted. These changes are primarily the consequences of corrections of the preliminary second tint results in Lower Saxony (plus 3,271), Bavaria (plus 932) and Baden-Württemberg (plus 912), as Federal Election Director Ruth Brand said.
Brand also reported smaller defects in the choice. In the constituency of Trier in Rhineland-Palatinate by the printing company, ballot papers were also delivered for Berlin-Pankow. 15 citizens would also have given up their vote. These ballot papers were declared invalid.
Three cases of double voting
In several federal states, election documents were accidentally sent twice. Measures were taken there immediately to exclude a double voice.
Nevertheless, three cases of double voting were registered, for example in the Thuringian constituency Eichsfeld-Nordhausen-Kyffhäuserkreis. There, one person distracted the election board in the polling station, so that another could take a second ballot and finally handed over two ballots. Voters also came twice in Hamburg-Wandsbek and in the Saxon constituency Erzgebirge district and had managed to choose twice. In the three cases, criminal complaint was filed, said Brand.
