US President Donald Trump hopes for peace in Ukraine and assumes a request from Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin. The Russian president reacts shortly afterwards.
U.S. President Donald Trump claimed Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin for mild for allegedly encircled Ukrainian soldiers in the Russian area of Kursk. “Exactly at this moment, thousands of Ukrainian soldiers are circled by the Russian military and are in a very bad and vulnerable situation,” Trump wrote on his social network Truth Social. To prevent a massacre, he asked Putin to protect her life.
Putin: Russia ready to protect the life of the Ukrainians
At a meeting of the National Russian Security Council, Putin reported on Trump – and agreed. For an effective implementation, the leadership in Kiev should command the Ukrainian soldier in the Kursk area, to put down the weapons and to take captivity. However, the general staff in Kyiv rejected that the soldiers were encircled.
At the same time, Putin said that the Ukrainian soldiers committed crimes against the civilian population. These were classified as terrorism by the Russian Attorney General, he said. Nevertheless, Russia is serious Trump’s call to protect the life of the soldiers from humanitarian considerations.
“In the event of a resignation of weapons and the passage in captivity, life is guaranteed and the worthy handling according to international law and laws of the Russian Federation,” said Putin. The Kremlin boss again praised that Trump was doing everything to restore the relationship between Moscow and Washington. “The process is not easy to not say difficult.”
Selenskyj describes Lage in the Kursk area as heavy
Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj indirectly admitted that the Ukrainian army has to withdraw from the Kursk region. “The situation is very difficult. I can only thank our fighters for this operation, which has fulfilled their task,” said the head of state journalists.
The Ukrainian leadership had originally justified the push into the Russian border area last August by exchanging these territories for negotiations with Russia for occupied Ukrainian territory. Russian prisoners also served as a justification for the risk in which thousands of Ukrainian soldiers died. Selenskyj had always described this as great success.
