Huthi militias have been attacking ships in the Red Sea for months. US President Donald Trump has now announced military strokes against the rebels supported by Iran.
According to its own statements, the United States attacked positions of the Huthi militia in Yemen. According to the Ministry of Health led by the Huthis, at least nine civilians were killed in the city of Sanaa and nine others were injured. US President Donald Trump had ordered the attacks against the militia supported by Iran.
The United States would currently carry out air strikes to the bases, leaders and missile defense against terrorists to protect American shipping and restore freedom of shipping, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform. The Huthi had led a relentless campaign of violence and terrorism against ships and planes of the United States and other countries.
The US had again classified the militia as a foreign terrorist organization at the beginning of March. You can read who the group is.
Donald Trump calls on Iran to end the Huthis support
US President Donald Trump explained on his Truth Social platform that the Huthis attacks on ships in the Red Sea are reason for the procedure. If these attacks did not stop, “then hell will break in, as you have never seen it before,” he wrote to the address of the Huthis.
Trump wrote to the address of Iran that the support for the Huthi terrorists had to be stopped immediately. Tehran should neither threaten the American people, its president nor the global shipping routes. “Be warned because America will take them into account and we won’t be nice to you!”
The Huthis are considered allies of the radical Islamic Palestinian organization Hamas. Since November 2023 there had been numerous Huthi attacks on ships in the Red Sea. The Huthis had justified this with the military offensive of Israel in the Gaza Strip, which had followed the attack of Hamas on Israel. After the start of a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, the Huthis initially declared in January to limit their attacks to merchant ships with connection to Israel. On the other hand, those against ships with British or US cover would be lifted.
