Collective bargaining
Talks for public service before the decision?

Employers and unions have been sitting together since Friday. It is about the income of more than 2.5 million employees. Are the negotiators go ahead?

The collective bargaining for the public service in Potsdam goes to the possible day. Degorists from the unions Verdi and DBB civil servants’ association came together again with the representatives of the federal government and municipalities in the morning. You have been negotiating since Friday. According to reports, there are at least little progress. However, specific information did not come to the outside world. The unification opportunities are open.

The round has actually been announced until Sunday evening, but could run into the night of Monday. If no result is achieved, a toilet would be possible. In this case, there could be warning strikes in the public service again – in the past few weeks, tens of thousands of employees in daycare centers, at airports or at the garbage disposal have temporarily resigned. It would also be conceivable that a side explains a failure of the negotiations. Then there would be arbitration and for the time being no further warning strikes.

The negotiations are about income and working hours of more than 2.5 million employees. Verdi and civil servant association are demanding a tariff increase of eight percent, but at least 350 euros more a month. They also want to enforce at least three additional days off.

The demands are too expensive for employers, the federal government and municipalities. No official offer is still known from them. According to their calculations, the demands of the unions would add up to 15 billion euros a year for the municipalities.
