Donald Trump and Vladimir Putin recently went back to cloth. Now, according to the US President, there is a direct conversation with the Russian head of state.
According to his own statements, US President Donald Trump wants to speak to the Russian head of state Vladimir Putin on Tuesday. According to the traveling reporter, he said this on a flight with his presidential machine Air Force One, on which he commented on the possible termination of the Ukraine War, as several US media reported.
According to the Bloomberg news agency, Trump said on the flight from the US state of Florida to the capital Washington, the chances for a deal would be very good and there will possibly be somewhat to be shared by Tuesday. When asked what concessions he would expect from Putin, the US President replied that large parts of the discussion were about area claims. According to the US broadcaster Fox News, Trump also said that it is also about the future of power plants.
Donald Trump visited meeting with Vladimir Putin
Already in the election campaign, the Republican had repeatedly praised his supposedly good contacts with Putin and claims that he could end the Ukraine war within 24 hours. In February, Trump personally called the Kremlin boss – and only then with the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, for whom the United States was always the most important supporter in the three years of the war.
Trump not only agreed with Putin about the end of the war that has been going on since February 2022, he also promised a later personal meeting. So far there is no date for this.
Ukraine fears forced peace
The Ukrainian government and its European allies fear that Trump wants to force a peace regulation, which Russia unilaterally support and in fact, as the winner from the lost war. Against this background in Ukraine and many EU countries, the fact that the new US government of Ukraine – almost as a compensation for the support granted to the United States – demanded an agreement on the exploitation of rare earth in the country was perceived as a questionable signal.
