US President Donald Trump would like to sell off fleeting judges. The presiding judge of the Supreme Courts rejects this with unusually clear words.
US President Donald Trump has attracted the trouble of the U.S.’s Supreme Court of unpleasant judges. “For more than two centuries, it has been clear that an office procedure is not a reasonable response to disagreement about a judicial decision,” said John Roberts, the presiding judge of the Supreme Court. “Appointment procedure are there for this.”
Roberts did not name Trump by name. It rarely happens that the presiding judge publicly comments on daily politics. Trump had previously left his platform Truth Social about judges who are not on a political line with him. They should be removed from the office, said Trump.
Constitutional crisis feared by Donald Trump
The background is a dispute over the deportation of several Venezuelan migrants who, according to the Trump government, belong to the Tren de Aragua criminal cartel. A judge in Washington, James E. Boasberg, saw a sufficient legal basis and ordered the deportations to be stopped. It is currently being checked whether the government acts against this order. Legal experts fear that the case could develop into a constitutional crisis.
During his first term, Trump had already attracted the trouble of the Supreme Court because he questioned the impartiality of judges. Roberts rejected Trump’s allegations at the time and explained: “We have no Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.”
Instead, there is an outstanding group of committed judges who gave their best and treated everyone in court according to the same standards of law. The conservative lawyer Roberts was nominated in 2005 by the then Republican US President George W. Bush.
