The Ukraine, struggling against the Russian attack war, sees a life rescue in the new German military aid. Moscow continues to strike and kill.
The Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj thanked Germany for the billion dollar aid package in the fight against the Russian attack war. Germany provides exactly what helps save life in Ukraine, he said, according to a message published on platform X. Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD) and his likely successor Friedrich Merz (CDU) would be expressed. “Thank you, Germany!” Selenskyj wrote in German.
“The additional military aid will help to strengthen our skills in the areas of air defense, artillery, drones, armored vehicles, mining units and other areas,” said the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on the platform X. “We are grateful for its strategic investment in a just and long -term peace and in safety in Ukraine and all over Europe.”
The German weapons have so far saved thousands of lives in Ukraine. “You will save even more in this and the coming years,” said Sybiha. A strong Ukrainian army will be the most important security factor in Ukraine and in Europe in the next few years.
Germany approves billions for Ukraine
The Bundestag’s budget committee had previously approved a long controversial billion-dollar package for Ukraine. The package is about an additional 3 billion euros for this year and up to 8.3 billion euros for 2026 to 2029. There had been long conflicts before the Bundestag election.
According to the Department of Defense, additional weapons are to be delivered to Ukraine this year. A spokesman called the air defense system Iris-T, steering aircraft, surveillance radar, drones, combat vehicles and hand weapons. According to government spokesman Steffen Hebestreit, the previous German Ukraine aids have been more than 44 billion euros since the beginning of the Russian invasion.
Russia, on the other hand, criticizes the continuation of arms deliveries by Germany and other western states to Kiev as an attempt to continue the war in Ukraine.
Dead and injured in Ukraine for Russian air strikes
Meanwhile, Ukraine experienced another night with Russian air strikes. According to the authorities, at least two people were killed in the northeast of Ukraine in the Sumy area and four others were injured. In the village of Krasnopillja, the Russians had dropped six sliding bombs, the public prosecutor said. In another village, two people were injured in an attack on a motorcycle. In the Ukrainian capital Kyiv and other parts of the country, too, there was air alarm.
In Kiev, Mayor Vitali Klitschko called on people to get to safety in shelters in the evening. The flight defense was active against drone attacks, as he announced. According to Klitschko, rubble of a shot -in flight object in the capital fell into a building; There was a fire there. Nothing was known about injuries at first.
In Saporischchja, three people died in a Russian air raid. Another twelve residents were injured in the drone attack, the authorities said in the evening.
Ukrainian media reported Russian air strikes with drones and sliding bombs in different parts of the country. Ukraine has been defending itself against the Russian attack war for more than three years.
Also injured in Russia after Ukrainian drone attack
Russia also reported drone attacks from the Ukrainian side again. In the city of Rostow am Don, a drone exploded on the 17th floor of a house, as the managing governor Juri Sljussar announced in his telegram channel. Two people were injured.
The warring parties, which are in separate discussions with the USA, repeatedly accuse each other not to have any interest in the end of the fighting. Both sides always emphasize that they are ready to negotiate the conflict. On the one hand, new discussions between US representatives and Ukrainians are planned in Saudi Arabia on the one hand and with Russian representatives on the other. Direct conversations between Russians and Ukrainians, as at the beginning of the war in spring 2022, have not yet been in sight.
U.S. President Donald Trump had confirmed his goal of wanting to solve the conflict after talks with Selenskyj and Kremlin boss Vladimir Putin. After a phone call to Trump last Tuesday, Putin had agreed to stop lumps against Ukrainian energy systems in a first step. According to Kremlin, the command already applies. Ukraine accuses Russia with a view to the ongoing air raids.
A prisoner exchange announced by Putin and Trump on the phone call was implemented. Selenskyj said in his evening speech, which was widespread in the evening, that 4,306 people have already returned from Russian captivity. The aim is to bring everyone home, emphasized Selenskyj. He did not name a number.
