At the latest since Trump’s return, Europe has been preparing for the worst: a NATO without the United States, a war against Russia. And then? A banger look at the European Arsenal.
Europe has to upgrade, quickly. The new old US President Donald Trump had already made this clear before he moved into the White House: After his re-election, the transatlantic allies would no longer be able to rely on the military support of the United States. Since the bitter dispute between Trump and the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, it has now been certain: Washington actually no longer wants to take responsibility for the old continent. Instead, Moscow resists to negotiate a ceasefire in Ukraine – without including Brussels, of course.
The EU Commission therefore expects the Worst Case Scenario: If Russia in Ukraine Siegen and Putin’s hunger for power are unattilted if it could attack Europe. According to a strategy paper, a war with Russia is considered possible from 2030.
Brussels is now trying to scrape all of his armed forces together. Is that enough to assert itself against Russia?
