The FDP chairman Christian Lindner has sharply criticized the head of the Robert Koch Institute, Lothar Wieler. The communication about the reduction of the recovered status was “extremely unfortunate”. In the RTL interview, he reiterated his allegations.

Recovered status: “Great doubts” about the unannounced decision

He had “great doubts” about this decision, which was as unannounced as it was surprising, said Lindner on “RTL Direkt”: “The technical and communication decision was in the hands of Mr. Wieler and I think one can say that it was extraordinarily was unhappy.” However, it is up to Health Minister Karl Lauterbach (SPD) to express his confidence, emphasized Lindner. “I have made it clear that I do not consider this decision and many other decisions to be convincing.”

He referred to the fact that the RKI had unexpectedly reduced the recovered status from six to three months with effect from January 15. Many citizens lost their right to go to restaurants, bars or the gym almost overnight. A new regulation stipulates that the RKI sets the deadline – but the timing came as a surprise.

Christian Lindner: “I’m surprised about the course correction of the CDU and CSU”

Linder comments that Bavaria will now not implement the facility-related vaccination requirement and no longer supports this either: “I am, however, a little surprised about the course correction of the CDU and CSU. It was not even possible with a general vaccination requirement for everyone over 18 go fast enough and now there’s a turn.”

As far as the corona measures are concerned, the Federal Finance Minister is again in favor of quick relaxation. “Not all of the measures that are still in place that have been discussed between the federal and state governments are necessary. We can relax there.” And further: “With the next Prime Minister’s Conference on February 16, 2G should be discontinued and replaced by a mask requirement. We still need that at the moment for reasons of caution.”
