Friedrich Merz and Lars Klingbeil, the top men of the Union and the SPD, are to form the axis of the grand coalition – but are both counted. Can that work?
The other day in the Bundestag, they were again. To the back, in the last row, where you can chat undisturbed without having to whisper, the two men had withdrawn. On the right Friedrich Merz, the upcoming Chancellor, to the left of Lars Klingbeil, the man he needs for it.
And there she was again, this question that nobody can answer.
