Moscow accuses Kyiv stronger attacks on energy systems

In negotiations under US mediation, Russia and Ukraine have undertaken not to attack each other any energy systems. Now Moscow complains that the situation had still worsened.

According to Russia, Ukraine has increased its attacks on energy systems – regardless of the agreed fire break. The Ministry of Defense in Moscow explained that the number of corresponding attacks in the areas of Kursk and Belgorod had increased. After hits on high -voltage lines and substances, there were power outages. This contradicts the assertions of the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj over an end to such attacks.

In his part, Selenskyj had previously accused Russia of continuing attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure. For days, the warring parties have been holding violations of the agreement.

US mediators had agreed with Russia and Ukraine in separate conversations that no energy infrastructure would be bombarded. According to Kremlangaben, Russia’s President Vladimir Putin gave the order on March 18 – after a phone call with his US colleague Donald Trump.

The information from the warring parties on the damage cannot be checked. It is striking, however, that both sides now publish entire lists with the damage and violations for the first time after such communications in the past have not or hardly existed. In particular, the Russian Ministry of Defense always reported primarily to shoot Ukrainian drones without reporting on hits or damage.

Russia has been waging his war of aggression against Ukraine for more than three years and shoots the neighboring country every day with drones, rockets and marching skates.
