The former CDU leader was traveling too quickly in his hometown. The ex-minister does not want to accept the punishment at first, but then decides differently.
The CDU foreign politician Armin Laschet drove too quickly and therefore accepted a notice of fine. This was confirmed by the former CDU leader of the “Bild am Sonntag”. “Driving too fast can happen, but it shouldn’t. Fortunately, nobody was endangered here – at least not by me,” emphasized Laschet.
According to the newspaper, the former North Rhine-Westphalian Prime Minister was flashed in his hometown Aachen at 97 km / h in July, 50 kilometers per hour were allowed. Laschet should therefore pay a penalty of 428.50 euros, receive two points in the Flensburg traffic register and a month of driving ban. The day after the journey, Laschet contacted the police and explained that he was full gas at a traffic light because he was observed when he got in by unknown men and she had closely followed him in her car over several streets. Laschet said the “Bild am Sonntag”: “It was a stirring event that moved me a lot.”
Because Laschet initially did not want to accept the notice of fines, according to the newspaper there should be a legal proceedings at the Aachen District Court in May. However, the Union’s former candidate for Chancellor took the appeal back. He told the newspaper: “After the public prosecutor’s office was unable to determine the people behind me, the objection to the notice of fines is unfortunately no longer expedient. I have withdrawn it and pay the fine. Hook on it.”
