According to the CDU, a mandatory service could also be done according to the technical relief organization. So far, however, the SPD is only ready to introduce voluntary military service, as Defense Minister Boris Pistorius proposed.
The Bavarian Greens have now stimulated a mandatory “Freedom Service”. According to this, all women and men should serve six months at some point between the ages of 18 and 67. You can choose between military service, population protection, fire brigade or aid organizations or another six -month company service.
Already carried out services or certain voluntary activities are to be taken into account. The military officer of the Bundestag, Eva Högl, supports the Greens from Bavaria. She finds the proposal “very, very good,” said the SPD politician on Deutschlandfunk.
