A supposed spy roar was sighted via an EU research facility on Lake Maggiore. Investigations are underway for suspected espionage.
In Italy, a suspected Russian drone has flown several times through a research complex of the European Union on Lake Maggiore. According to a report by the Italian news agency Ansa, the public prosecutor’s office in nearby Milan has initiated pre -investigations.
According to the daily newspaper “Corriere della Sera”, the reconnaissance drone was said to have been traveling five times over the facility last month.
The research center is the Joint Research Center (joint research center) of the EU, which has been based on the Italian lake shore in the municipality of Ipra since 1960. There is currently a research project on the security aspects of drones. The Italian armaments group Leonardo has several factories nearby. There are other such EU research centers in Brussels and Luxembourg.
