A court imposed the exclusion of elections against Le Pen. The Court of Appeal now wants to quickly decide on your appeal. Could Le Pen compete in the presidential election?
The Paris Court of Appeal wants to decide on the objection of the right -wing Marine Le Pen against its conviction for embezzlement of public funds by summer 2026. In the event of a decision that is favorable for the politician, there is no other fears of her candidacy in the 2027 presidential election in 2027.
Against the verdict against Le Pen, her party, her party nationally and other party managers because of the embezzlement of EU funds, three appointments had been received, the court said in the evening. The court will “examine the appeals within a period that should enable a decision in summer 2026,” it said.
The most violent part of the punishment against Le Pen was that the parliamentary group leader of the right -wing racial nation (marginal) must not compete in elections for five years. The punishment immediately comes into force – unlike a prison sentence based on probation.
With a view to the long -term duration of an appeal process, Le Pen initially feared that it could not run as planned in the 2027 presidential election. She and her party had spoken of a political judgment with the aim of eliminating them for the election.
