The left wants to abolish homework. This emerges from a “5-point plan against an equalization of opportunities in education”, which of the star is present. “Homework deepens the social division,” says the paper by left-wing boss Jan van Aken and the Bavarian member of the Bundestag Nicole Gohlke.
And further: “Anyone who has parents who can help get ahead. If you don’t – stay behind. If you don’t have your own room, no rest, no support, get worse notes.” This is “not individual weakness, that is structural injustice”.
“Homework is also a class question,” said van Aken that star. Of course, the opportunities for children of academic parents would be better than others. “Learning belongs to school, not in the living room,” said van Aken.
Study: First graders are disadvantaged
Die Linke thus reacted to a new study by the German Institute for Economic Research, which according to first graders from families with low incomes and less parental education in Germany with larger educational disadvantages than in many other countries. First the “mirror” had reported on the study.
The demand to abolish homework is also gaining more and more supporters among educational experts. In the past, the Union Upbringing and Science (GEW) has been working several times to do without classic homework for pupils. It is better to solve in -depth tasks on the teaching material in the school context and with the appropriate pedagogical support.
The “Citizens’ Council of Education and Learning” also argues, in which 700 randomly sustained citizens will develop suggestions on how to improve school learning and education. In its recommendations presented in January, the Council advocated replacing homework with “in -depth hours”, which should be part of the timetable.
Linke wants to go to the 10th grade together
In its 5-point plan, in addition to the abolition of homework, the left also calls for the complete exemption from all school fees (also for books, school meals, tablets and tickets), a joint school to “at least 10th grade”, a special fund of 100 billion euros for the renovation and equipment of schools as well as more staff for educational institutions.
