Ukraine speaks of the largest number of children killed so far in a single Russian rocket strike. The case should now become a topic in the UN Security Council.
After the death of nine children and adolescents in a Russian rocket strike against the Ukrainian industrial city of Krywyj Rih, Kiev initiated an urgency meeting in front of the UN Security Council for this Tuesday. It is the largest number of children who were killed in a single blow since the beginning of the war 2022, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha on the platform X.
He accused Russia of having used an explosive head with stray ammunition in order to achieve the highest possible number of victims on a playground. In the rocket strike on Friday and its episodes, 20 people died, including 9 children and young people.
“It takes a clear international answer to the Russian atrocities. Such terror should never be normal,” says the minister. He also spoke to the executive Federal Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock (Greens) about the murder of the children. The counterpart expressed her condolences. “I thank Germany and personally Annalena for all the support,” said Sybiha.
Russia had to end its attacks on children and civilians and respond to the US proposal for a comprehensive ceasefire, Sybiha demanded. Ukraine had agreed to end such a ceasefire to end the war.
Russia rejects allegations
After the severe rocket goal in the southeast of Ukraine, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow claimed that no blows against social infrastructure were made. Moscow spoke of a “high precision” against a meeting of the military. There are no evidence of military goals on the pictures published by Ukrainian side of the place of the attack.
In talks with Russia and Ukraine, the United States proposed various models of fire breaks, but to which Moscow puts preconditions. According to Russia, according to its own statements, it is only a stop of attacks on energy systems. However, the attacks on residential buildings and other civilian objects have increased since then.
