According to a media report, President Donald Trump’s US government is examining 10,000 soldiers from Eastern Europe. The US broadcaster NBC reported on Tuesday, citing six anonymous sources in the USA and Europe, Romania and Poland could be affected by the step. There was no official confirmation of the Pentagon for the time being.
After the Russian attack on Ukraine a good three years ago, the then US President Joe Biden also sent 20,000 soldiers to Europe. According to the NBC report, the Pentagon is now considering halving these forces. The background is US negotiations with Ukraine and Russia via a ceasefire. However, these have stalled.
