According to President Wolodymyr Selenskyj, Ukraine captured two Chinese citizens fighting in the Russian army. “There are the documents of the prisoners, bank cards, personal data,” wrote the head of state at Telegram and published a video with pictures of one of the prisoners. The capture is said to have been taken in the eastern Ukrainian area of ​​Donetsk. “We have information that there are far more citizens of China in the units of the occupiers,” emphasized Selenskyj.

The President instructed the Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrij Sybiha to request a reaction immediately from Beijing. For him, this was a clear signal that Russian President Vladimir Putin did not want to end the war and instead want to continue fighting. “This absolutely requires a reaction. A reaction from the United States, Europe and everyone in the world who want peace,” emphasized Selenskyj. The Chinese prisoners of war are therefore at the Ukrainian secret service SBU.

According to Sybiha’s information, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry ordered the China’s embassy in Kyiv.

The reports on the captured Chinese are known to the United States, said the spokeswoman for the U.S. State Department, Tammy Bruce, in Washington and called this “disturbing”: “China is a main supporter in Russia in the Ukraine War.”

Bruce explained almost 80 percent of dual-use goods that Russia needs to maintain the war, explained Bruce. Products that are used for both civilian and military purposes are called dual-use goods. US foreign spokeswoman Bruce continued that the collaboration between the “two nuclear powers” Russia and China would continue to contribute to “global instability and the USA and other countries are less secure, less protected and less wealthy”.

So far, China has been a neutral party in the Ukraine War and explains not to support Kiev or Moscow with weapons. However, Beijing has significantly strengthened its political, military and economic cooperation with Russia since the beginning of the Russian attack in February 2022.

Ukraine has been fighting against a Russian invasion with western help for more than three years. Units of the North Korean army have already been used on the Russian side. According to their own statements, thousands of foreign nationals will voluntarily fight for Kyiv.
