According to Ukrainian information, Russia has started with new offensive actions and further increases the troop strength. Kyiv doesn’t want to remain idle.
According to Ukrainian information, the Russian army “actually” started an offensive to the Sumy and Charkiw areas. “We have been observing almost a week to doubling the opponent’s attacks on all main sections,” commander Olexander Syrskyj told the online portal “Lb.Ua”. The Russian goal is to create a buffer zone along the Russian-Ukrainian border in the areas of Charkiw, Sumy and Chernihiw. Kremlin chief Vladimir Putin had previously publicly expressed this.
Syrskyj also confirmed the monthly mobilization requirement of around 30,000 soldiers, whom the Ukrainian President Wolodymyr Selenskyj had called. “This is actually the number we have to adhere to,” said the general. According to all official announcements from Kiev, however, the number of soldiers in the army has remained constant at just a little less than 900,000.
According to Syrkyj, the Russian side increases its presence along the front line by 8,000 to 9,000 soldiers every month despite losses. Putin had given the Russian troop contingent along the front line with almost 700,000 last year.
Ukraine has been fighting against a Russian invasion with western help for more than three years. The ethnic Russian Syrskyj has been commander -in -chief of the Ukrainian armed forces since February 2024. He is attributed to the successes in the organization of the defense of the capital Kiev in spring 2022 and the Ukrainian counter -offensive in the Charkiw area the following summer.
