The legalization of cannabis is controversial. The Union wanted to tip over completely again – an exam was now agreed.
Union and SPD want to put the legalization of cannabis to adults to the test – but a withdrawal was not laid down in the coalition agreement. “In autumn 2025 we carry out an open -ended evaluation of the law to legalize cannabis,” says the common document of the CDU, CSU and SPD. The applicable law already provides for an initial evaluation.
In their election program, the CDU and CSU had taken up to abolish the Cannabis Act of the traffic light coalition. Since April 1, 2024, it has grazed graiting for adults with numerous restrictions. The cultivation of up to three plants in private apartments is allowed, you can keep up to 50 grams of cannabis. Non-commercial “cultivation associations” with up to 500 members are also permissible. Cannabis remains prohibited for young people under the age of 18.
