US special envoy Witkoff is in Russia
US President Trump wants to reach an end to the Ukraine War. Finally, he seemed to lose patience with Moscow. Now his special envoy is there – for a special appointment.
The US specialist Steve Witkoff traveled to Russia and is expected to meet Russian President Vladimir Putin. Witkoff had landed, Kremlin spokesman Dmitri Peskow confirmed a report on the US news page “Axios”. He did not want to comment on a meeting with Kremlin chief Putin, also mentioned by “Axios”. “If there is one, we share it,” he just said.
Previously, Russian media had already reported, citing the tracking portal Flighttradar, that Witkoff’s aircraft had landed in St. Petersburg. According to the Kremlin, Putin will lead a “extremely important” meeting on questions from the Russian fleet of war during the day.
