Russia sees itself threatened by the West and criticizes a militarization of Europe. According to Moscow, Ukraine is supposed to reduce its military – even the Kremlin wants to upgrade massively.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has announced billion -dollar investments for the armament of his country’s war fleet. “In the next decade, 8.4 trillion rubles (the equivalent of around 87 billion euros) are intended for the construction of new boats and ships of the war fleet,” said Putin Russian news agencies at a meeting on the development of the war fleet in St. Petersburg.
The conversion and upgrading of the fleet are due to new dangers and challenges, said the Kremlin chief. He referred to the development of drone and robot technology, digitization, but also the political situation in the world. He did not specifically enter into the war against Ukraine, in which a series of ships from the Russian Black Sea fleet was also sunk.
Instead, he praised the previous upgrade pace of the fleet. According to his information, 49 warships of various classes have been built in Russian shipyards in the past five years, including atomic submarines that can be equipped with new zircon hyper-shed missiles.
