Unrest in the SPD: The Jusos reject the coalition agreement
The nervousness is growing in the SPD: the SPD offspring does not participate in black and red, Juso boss Philipp Türmer rejects the coalition agreement-and demands improvements.

On the other hand: Is there any time for renegotiations, can Germany allow delays in government formation? The coalition on the home stretch briefly meets Türmer’s advance. For the Juso boss, who was narrowly elected in November 2023, it is also about his own credibility. The association will take a closer look at what your chairman can get out for you and the SPD – and how far it is willing to go to the Jusos’s beliefs. Some rebellious Juso boss has gained massively profile and visibility through such a confrontation, also to the mother party. Kevin Kühnert finally rose to the SPD general secretary.
This Kühnert moment could now also come for the 29-year-old, who is also considered rhetorically strong and shows clear edge-but has so far been withdrawn and avoided escalation if it had to be.
