Countries agree on a pandemic contract
For a good three years, countries from all over the world have been struggling for a contract that is supposed to prevent chaotic conditions as in Corona pandemic. Now there is a breakthrough.
Five years after the beginning of Corona pandemic, numerous countries have agreed on a pandemic contract that is supposed to prevent a similar chaos as at the time. After a good three years and recently night -time discussions in Geneva, the negotiators approved a contract text. He is to be adopted in Geneva at the annual meeting of the 194 members of the World Health Organization (WHO) in May.
An important aspect should be in an appendix to the contract and still has to be negotiated. The aim is how to deal with gene sequences of pathogens and how poorer countries are supplied with medication and vaccines developed from them.
The contract only applies in countries whose parliaments have ratified it. The WHO will not be able to order lockdowns, travel restrictions or vaccinations in the future.
