The promised recordings of Afghans are continued. Another plane is on the way to Germany. Criticism comes from the Union in advance.
An aircraft chartered by the federal government with Afghans on board is from Islamabad on the way to Germany. A spokesman for the Federal Foreign Office in Berlin said that the passengers are people from various programs that would have received a legally binding reception commitment. The plane is expected in Leipzig during the day. According to the Lower Saxony Ministry of the Interior, the passengers are to be brought to the Friedland border crossing and distributed from there to the countries after two weeks.
According to the Federal Foreign Office, around 2,600 particularly endangered people from Afghanistan are currently waiting in Pakistan for their admission in Germany. In addition to former local forces of German institutions and their relatives, Afghans are also said to be admitted that the persecution of Islamist Taliban must fear, for example because they have been committed to lawyers or journalists for human rights in the past.
Union wants to stop voluntary federal admission programs
In the CDU, CSU and SPD coalition agreement, it says: “We will end voluntary federal recording programs as far as possible (for example Afghanistan) and do not set up any new programs.” The Union politicians were outraged to the flights that are still planned for April.
Pakistan deportations
Afghans, who are still waiting for their departure in Islamabad as part of the various recording programs, could soon come under a lot of pressure. Pakistan started a new deportation wave of Afghan refugees in early April and wants to show three million Afghans and Afghans in the long term. The Pakistani Minister of State for the Interior, Talal Chaudhry, recently announced that the deportations from May would also hit the Afghans who were waiting in Pakistan to leave western countries.
Afghans waiting in Islamabad are already reporting increasingly difficult conditions. Accordingly, families often have to spend many months in the guest houses rented for the federal recording program, some even more than a year. At the same time, the Pakistani authorities now consist of a monthly renewal of their visas. In order to arrive regularly for the high fees, many families were indebted to relatives or would have to sell their property in their homeland, which means that they will be in the event of a rejection.
When asked whether Afghans are affected by impending deportations with admission commitments from Germany, the spokesman for the Federal Foreign Office said: “We are in close coordination and close contact with the Pakistani authorities and are committed to the people who have a binding commitment.”
